School board pledges to support better health for students

DURHAM -- The school board has adopted a resolution pledging to work with community partners to identify and eliminate barriers that prevent students from achieving optimal health.

Titled “Resolution in Support of Advancing Health in Durham,” the resolution was adopted by the school board during a work session last week.

It was adopted at the request of Eugene Washington, Duke University’s chancellor for health affairs and president and chief executive officer of the Duke University Health System, who has asked the Durham City Council and Durham County Board of Commissioners to adopt similar resolutions.
