Meet Nasir: 2019 Family Advocacy Day Child Champion

Nasir is participating at 2019 Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Day from June 25-26 in Washington, D.C. During the event, Nasir will share information about his health journey and the importance of children’s health care with members of Congress. Below is his story.

Nasir is a funny, typical 2-year-old boy who loves the movie Moana!

He was born with Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, a severe type of heart defect. Since his diagnosis, Nasir has been receiving care from the cardiologists, nutritionists and gastrointestinal specialists at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

Despite his many surgeries and treatments, he has never let his heart defect affect his fun personality and love for life. He’s easy-going yet strong—he loves to laugh and play like any other toddler.

Because of the complexities of Nasir’s health condition, he and his family have formed special relationships with the staff at Nemours Children’s, calling it their home away from home. His parents completely trust that Nemours Children’s will provide the best care for his special medical needs.

Today, Nasir has progressed well. Since his diagnosis is a lifelong condition, he still needs additional treatments to continue improving, but he’s doing great!

Join us in welcoming Nasir to 2019 Family Advocacy Day!
