Meet Archie: 2021 Family Advocacy Week Champion

Archie is participating in Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Week from June 13-18, 2021. Through this event, Archie and his family will discuss his health journey, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s role in providing Archie with necessary health care services, and why the public and our elected officials must invest in the future of patients like him.

At 2 years old, Archie and his mother, Amandalee, needed answers and direction following an autism diagnosis. The formal evaluation from Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) provided assistance with school services, information and finding a network of providers.

“It wasn't until we started working with Robert Keder, M.D., that I felt we had a direction to go in,” says Amandalee, Archie’s mother. “He was able to help point me in the right direction in so many areas that felt daunting, like finding a pediatrician.”

Now they trust CCMC with every aspect of Archie’s care, including everything from developmental check-ins to eye exams and bloodwork.

Now 7 years old, Archie is doing well with specific goals and skills to work on. He likes the virtual appointments that make for quick check-ins and limit exposure to different waiting room environments. He also likes swimming and playing kickball.

Having CCMC developmental pediatrics in our corner has been life-changing,” says Amandalee.
