Meet Archer: 2020 Family Advocacy Week Champion

Archer.jpgArcher is participating in Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Week from August 10-14, 2020. Through this special event, Archer and his family will share information about his health journey, Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s role in providing Archer with necessary health care services, and why the public and our elected officials must invest in the future of kids like Archer.

Following the critical diagnosis of his younger brother in the fall of 2019, Archer’s ADHD, anxiety, sleep disorder and depression worsened.

However, through therapy sessions at the Mood and Anxiety Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, Archer is doing much better. The program is dedicated to serving the needs of adolescents like Archer with a primary diagnosis of a mood or anxiety disorder.

He is even able to continue seeing his therapist through telehealth appointments twice a week during the COVID-19 pandemic and comfortable with an online counseling format. “I’m just a regular kid. I have anxiety and I’m working my way through it” says Archer. “The best thing I did for myself was ask for help.”

In his free time, Archer is a big fan of video games and Legos. He loves building things and wants to become an architect.
