Jack was born with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, a brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain. He underwent several tests and examinations, including an MRI to find random damage spots across his brain and visits with specialists to determine his level of function.

A few days after the 20-week ultrasound, Corinne, Elijah’s mother, received a call requesting that she come back in to have more measurements taken. The tone of the ultrasound was different than the first, and ultimately confirmed that Elijah’s fibular bone in his leg was missing.

Sara was diagnosed in utero with megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome (MMIH), a severe disorder that affects the muscles that line the bladder, intestines and disrupts the digestive tract.

During a prenatal exam, a large mass was detected in Joseph’s mother’s womb. It was later discovered that the mass was obstructing the development of Joseph’s kidneys.
