2016 Speak Now For Kids Family Advocacy Day Hero: Peyton
Peyton was just 2-years-old when she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, uveitis and asthma. Since then she logged multiple emergency department visits for numerous illnesses, as well as 26 visits to a specialist within the last year alone. However, being the brave little girl she is, Peyton pushes through the pain to keep up with her peers.
Thanks to her doctor at Akron Children’s Hospital finding the right medication for her, Peyton’s condition has stabilized within the past two years. Pointing to the importance of having access to, and support of, her doctors and nurses 24 hours a day, Peyton said life would be “awful” without a children’s hospital.
Not one to let anything stand in her way, Peyton loves horseback riding, soccer and playing tag. Building on her love of animals big and small, she plans on owning an aquarium and saving sea animals when she grows up.
