Report: More children in area suburbs still suffer from poverty

While recent headlines touted a national recovery from the Great Recession, a new report indicates more children in four suburban counties surrounding Philadelphia are still suffering the effects of the economic downturn.

The report by Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) found more children in Delaware, Bucks, Montgomery and Chester counties are living in poverty now than during the depths of the recession.

On Monday, PCCY released the first of four reports on the status of children in these counties, titled “Left Out: The Status of Children in Delaware County.”
