Bipartisan agreement to protect our children’s health is needed quickly

The clock is ticking on the health care of the nearly 9 million children who are covered through the federal Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Congress’s failure to take action well in advance of the looming Sept. 30 deadline for funding renewal is putting the health of these children at risk.

CHIP is a wildly popular, bipartisan program – and incredibly successful. Despite this, the current toxic environment in Congress around health care has delayed approval of new funding for the program.
