2015 Family Advocacy Day Hero -- Andrea
After battling instances of dizziness, passing out, both low and high blood pressure, and digestive issues, Andrea was diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Considered an autoimmune disorder, POTS causes a patient’s heart to work harder to maintain blood pressure and blood flow to the brain. Mostly seen in women under the age of 35, the cause is currently unknown.
The 15-year-old Indiana native isn’t letting heart issues it slow her down. She has been active in raising awareness about many illnesses and disabilities and enjoys her time helping others with her youth group. A passionate photographer, Andrea always has a camera ready to capture life as it happens, and plans to attend college as she strives to fulfill her dreams.
